- What Are We So Scared Of?: A Lesson From Princess Olga
Note: Years after her repose, the pagan ruler, Vladimir of Kiev (St. Olga's grandson) was seeking the True Faith. To be most efficient he sent out envoys into the world to scout out the religions, while he also received others of many faiths in this endeavor. All that happened of this can be read in the Baptism of Rus' (recommended). Though the envoy's desire and the conclusion of St. Vladimir were both looking towards the Orthodox Church, St. Vladimir hesitated.
His vassal then spoke: "If the Greek faith were evil, it would not have been adopted by your grandmother Olga, who was wiser than all other men."
Though it would still be a while until St. Vladimir accepted baptism (God lead him there with many promptings), we leave the vassal's words as a testimony to the God-given character of St. Olga.
